Description
I have been working as a professional wordsmith since 1993. During the years, I’ve created and contributed to a wide variety of texts, from promotional leaflets and fiction to scientific coursebooks at university level; I specialise in EFL.
I have a BSc in English and astronomy, and I’ve qualified as a member of Mensa and of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.
As an editor/proofreader, my role is that of a mirror to reflect to you how your readership – who only find out what’s in your mind as they go through your text – will respond to your words. My job is not primarily to ‘correct’ what you’ve written (though my knowledge of the nuts and bolts of the English language is impeccable!) but more to ensure that your writing matches as closely as possible the knowledge and expectations of your readers. You can see me as a ‘guinea-pig reader’ who asks the questions you’d get if you were in live conversation with your readers, so that when the text is finalised, including the answers to those questions, your meaning is clear.
As a ghostwriter, I’m a gentle interviewer who helps memories come to the surface, and I’ll take care to match the writing style to the way you’d like to express yourself.
I’m highly experienced, and so I give excellent value for money because of my speed and efficiency and the attention to detail that I give to my work. It can be cheaper having me to work for you than others whose rates are apparently lower, because I get more done in a shorter time. What’s more, I bring to your appearance in print the benefit of not only my long experience and professional expertise but also my extensive general knowledge.
